DTE opens solar power facility on Domino’s Farms land
Ann Arbor Township — DTE Energy Co. says it has opened Michigan’s largest solar power facility.
The utility says the 1.1-megawatt project that made its debut Tuesday is on the grounds of the Domino’s Farms office complex.
It consists of more than 4,000 panels on property north of state highway 14 and west of Earhart Road. Detroit-based DTE has worked with Domino’s Farms the past two years to develop the facility.
Officials say the installation generates enough electricity to power 185 homes. DTE plans to operate and maintain it for 20 years.
The Domino’s Farms project is part of SolarCurrents, a pilot program launched in 2009. DTE says it has installed 11 megawatts of solar energy across 23 sites in the Detroit area and in Michigan’s Thumb region.
