East Lansing — Police say an officer had no serious injuries after being pinned between a patrol car and a recreational vehicle in a parking lot in East Lansing.

Detective Lt. Scott Wriggelsworth tells The Associated Press the man was among a group of patrol officers gathered in the lot who had helped escort participants in the Law Enforcement Torch Run through the area.

Wriggelsworth says the officer was walking to the car early Friday to move it so the RV could get out when the RV started moving and pinned him. The driver stopped and Wriggelsworth says a group of police academy cadets lifted the patrol car away from the officer, freeing him.

The officer is home after being treated at a hospital.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run supports Special Olympics Michigan.
