Watersmeet — A missing hiker from Illinois has been found in a wooded area in Michigan’s far western Upper Peninsula.

WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin, reports from a Gogebic County sheriff’s office news release that 71-year-old John Niesman was “somewhat dehydrated” after being located in the Watersmeet area.

He was hospitalized for evaluation.

Niesman of Homer Glen was last seen Saturday at the Bel Air Motel in Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin. A jogger discovered his white SUV Wednesday night in Gogebic County, just over the Wisconsin state line.

Family members had said Niesman, who’s known as “Wolverine Jack,” goes on a hiking trip in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula twice a year.
