Dearborn — AAA projects that more than 1.5 million people from Michigan plan to travel this year for the Thanksgiving holiday, the most since 2007.

During the long holiday weekend, the auto club says nearly 1 percent more than last year from Michigan are expected to go 50 miles or more from home. Most of those traveling plan to be driving. Others making trips will be taking planes, buses or trains.

AAA Michigan says travelers are expected to see lower gas prices than in past years. It says they’ll likely be the lowest since 2008.

The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is from Nov. 25 to Nov. 29. Nationally, AAA says 46.9 million Americans are expected to travel for the holiday.
