Ludington — Authorities say a man has died and a woman is hospitalized following a fire in western Michigan.

The fire was reported on Monday night in Ludington and firefighters found the 29-year-old man in a bedroom and the 46-year-old woman in the living room. They were taken to a hospital, where the man identified as Benjamin Wolff was pronounced dead.

The woman was listed in stable condition.

They were on the first floor and the fire was at a house that was broken up into apartments. The Ludington Daily News reports two other people in on the second floor escaped.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death for Wolff. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
