‘Several more’ deer killed in Ann Arbor, 16 last week
Ann Arbor — Sharpshooters hired to reduce the deer population in Ann Arbor parks killed 16 last week and “several more” this week.
The Ann Arbor News says the city disclosed the details in a court filing Wednesday in response to a lawsuit by a resident opposed to the policy.
Ann Arbor wants to kill at least 100 deer in city parks and nature areas by March 1. Lawsuits have challenged the practice, but the city says it’s on solid ground.
Ann Arbor says reducing the deer herd will have a positive impact on other animals as well as the health of public land enjoyed by residents.
