Carp Lake — A new campground with views of Lake Michigan opens this year at Wilderness State Park in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

The campground is scheduled to open to the public June 23 and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says reservations are available. The new addition to the park offers a full hook-up campground, which includes 18 sites, and a tent-only rustic campground, which includes 10 sites.

The full hook-up campground is on wooded dunes that overlook Lake Michigan’s Big Stone Bay. The tent-only campground is along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It’s designed for campers to walk a short distance to their campsites.

Wilderness State Park is home to wilderness areas, 26 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, multiple campgrounds and numerous year-round recreational activities.
