After spring-like Sunday, snow expected to return
Coming off a warm weekend with spring-like temperatures, Southeast Michigan is heading for another cold patch as February gives way to March. Snow is expected Monday night, said Dan Thompson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Temperatures will fall to the low 20s, and less than an inch is expected.
But the heaviest snow of the next two days is expected Tuesday afternoon, Thompson said. Highs Tuesday will reach the low 30s. Some 3-5 inches of snow are expected to fall that afternoon and into the evening. Lows will fall to the upper teens, but due to wind chill it will feel more like single-digit temps.
Wednesday is expected to be a drier day, where high temps only reach the low 20s, while lows will hit the upper teens.
Thursday brings the chance of snow. A storm system may “skirt off to the south,” Thompson said, but it’s too early to tell how much snow might accumulate.
Friday, the end of the work week, is expected to be another dry day, with a high temp in the lower 30s, and lows in the mid teens.
