US-23 at Washtenaw-Livingston border reopened
Whitmore Lake — A portion of a major highway in southeastern Michigan that was closed in both directions after a truck slammed into a bridge has been reopened.
The bridge over US-23, near Whitmore Lake, was demolished by crews following Thursday’s crash and WWJ-AM reports all lanes on the highway were open Friday morning. The Michigan Transportation Department says the bridge will be rebuilt later.
The bridge is located on the border of Washtenaw County and Livingston County. US-23 is a major route between Ann Arbor and Interstate 96.
The Ann Arbor News says the state had plans to replace the 8 Mile Road bridge before the crash.
