Cross-dressing bank robber sought by police

A man dressed as a woman and carrying what appeared to be a bomb is suspected in robbery of a Brighton Township bank on Monday.

The robbery happened around 9:20 a.m. at the PNC Bank at 8130 W. Grand River, according to the Michigan State Police Brighton Post.

Police said the male suspect dressed as a woman entered the bank and announced a robbery. He displayed a handgun and what appeared to be a bomb, police said.

The suspect, who took an unknown amount of money, left the bank driving a blue Ford Mustang in an unknown direction, police said. He is described as being 20-30 years old. Police released surveillance images of the suspect Monday afternoon.

PNC Bank is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the bank robbery is asked to call Detective Sgt. Scott Singleton of the Michigan State Police Brighton Post at (810) 227-1051.
