Port Sanilac — Thunderstorms moving across Michigan prompted rescues on Lake Huron.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports a brother and sister, ages 15 and 13, were kayaking with their cousin, a 13-year-old girl, off Port Sanilac when their kayaks overturned Monday.

The Sanilac County sheriff’s department says they were near the harbor wall when winds and rain developed. One paddled back to shore. Deputies rescued the other two along with a relative who tried to get to them.

The children, who were wearing life jackets, were taken to a hospital for the treatment of the onset of hypothermia.

And near Alpena, WHSB-FM reports the Alpena County sheriff’s department rescued a man and his 15 year-old daughter Monday after their inflatable boat was swept into Thunder Bay by strong winds.
