Monroe Twp. man arrested for alleged sex abuse images

A Monroe Township man faces charges for what authorities allege is sexual abusive images involving children.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office learned June 17 the 49-year-old man had “child sexually abusive material” on his computer hard drive, officials said in a statement Wednesday.

After detectives sent the hard drive to the Michigan State Police Computer Forensics Division for examination, “it was discovered the hard drive contained more than 2,200 suspected child sexually abusive images,” the release said.

Detectives executed a search warrant Wednesday at the man’s home in the 2000 block of Clover. He was arrested and was being held at the Monroe County Jail.

The Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case.
