Monroe County motorcycle crash kills Erie couple
An Erie couple was killed in a Saturday fatal motorcycle crash in Whiteford Township in Monroe County, police said.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Jason Walker, 42, and his wife, Pamela Walker, also 42.
Police said Walker was operating a black, 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and his wife was his passenger.
A preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling west on Consear Road near Whiteford Center Road at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday when an eastbound vehicle struck the Walkers head-on, according to authorities. The couple, who were wearing helmets, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 55-year-old man from Riga was driving the tan 1997 Buick Park Avenue involved in the crash, officials said.
Police said the driver was attempting to pass another eastbound motorist when his vehicle collided with the Walkers’ motorcycle.
The driver of the Buick was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, officials said.
Police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information about it should call the Traffic Services Division of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at (734) 240-7711.
