Jackson — A 17-year-old shot in the arm while boarding a school bus in southern Michigan has been arrested for violating probation in a criminal case.

The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports that Martez Haywood was arraigned on Wednesday morning.

Haywood was wounded Monday afternoon outside Wilson Academy alternative high school in Jackson. He was arrested Tuesday after his release from a hospital.

Police have identified a suspect in the shooting, but no arrests have been made.

Haywood was on probation for carrying a concealed weapon and marijuana possession. The newspaper reports that he pleaded guilty to violating probation by leaving home around 1 a.m. on Sept. 14 and leaving school at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20.

He is jailed and faces an Oct. 5 resentencing.
