Muskegon-area boy, 2, finds rifle, wounds baby sister

Dalton Township — Authorities say a 2-year-old boy found a rifle in a closet at his western Michigan home and fired several shots, wounding his 4-month-old sister in the arm.
The sheriff’s department responded Thursday night to the home in Muskegon and found the girl with what was described as a graze wound. She was treated at a hospital and released. Investigators say the children’s mother was at home at the time of the shooting.
Sheriff’s deputies seized the .22-caliber rifle. Prosecutors will review the case and Child Protective Services investigators are involved in the investigation.
