Tentative agreement reached over trash pickup in Flint

Flint — City officials have tentatively reach an agreement over trash pickup.
Mayor Karen Weaver has been locked in a weeks-long battle with the City Council on the issue. The council has wanted to stick with Republic Services while Weaver favors Rizzo Environmental Services.
On Friday, the city put out a news release saying it has offered a one-year contract to Republic, which will agree to do the same work for the same price as Rizzo.
Under the agreement a lawsuit over the issue will be dismissed.
It’s been another unflattering affair for Flint, where residents are drinking bottled water or filtered tap water because of a lead-tainted water supply.
