Dry, chilly Halloween night in Metro Detroit
Ghosts and goblins of Metro Detroit should enjoy dry but chilly weather as they race from house to house Monday evening, scooping up their chocolatey treats, according to the National Weather Service in White Lake Township.
“We’ll see mostly the upper 40s for Metro Detroit, maybe lower 40s as you go north of Interstate 69 or in The Thumb,” meteorologist Alex Manion said. “We have a high-pressure system over us, and that means we’re going to stay dry, and partly cloudy.”
Before kids don their costumes, daytime temperatures Monday are expected to hover in the lower 50s, “which is right around seasonal for this time of year,” Manion said.
Tuesday should bring much higher temperatures with a slight chance of rain.
“We’ll see temperatures reaching the lower 70s, possibly even the mid 70s for the Metro area,” Manion said. “We’ll have a slight chance of rain, and I’m talking about very slight. Metro Detroit might not get any rain at all.”
The fun ends Wednesday, when an expected cold front brings rain showers through Thursday morning.
“We’ll start to have the possibility to see some (showers) by Wednesday morning and they will become increasingly more likely as we head into Wednesday afternoon and into the evening hours,” Manion said. “This will go into the overnight hours and start tapering off mid- to late-morning Thursday.”
Temperatures during the rain showers are expected to start in the upper 60s Wednesday and dip to the mid 50s by Thursday and Friday.
“But right now it’s looking pretty dry” for Friday, Manion said.
