2 children safe after kidnapping in car near Flint
Two young children are safe after being kidnapped early Wednesday inside a stolen car outside Flint.
A 3-year-old girl and her 9-month-old brother were inside a blue 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo when it was stolen around 7 a.m. outside a gas station at 4232 S. Saginaw in Burton, which is about 5 miles south of Flint.
The siblings and vehicle were found before 10 a.m., according to WNEM-TV (Channel 5) out of Saginaw. Detectives are searching for the suspect.
Burton police repeatedly declined to comment.
An Amber alert previously issued for the children identified the girl as Arinna Buning and the boy as Lincoln Buning. Media outlets, including WNEM, report that the little girl is named Ariana. The Amber Alert has been canceled.
The suspect was last seen heading away from the crime scene east on Schumacher, according to the canceled Amber Alert. He was described by officials as an unknown, heavy-set male who is around 5-foot-10 and weighs about 300 pounds.
