Michigan helicopter crews depart for overseas duty

Grand Ledge — Members of Michigan’s 147th Assault Helicopter Battalion in Grand Ledge departed Friday from Grand Ledge for deployment overseas, as family members waved goodbye.

Gov. Rick Snyder wished the battalion well during a Friday ceremony, while family members embraced the troops before waving goodbye as the helicopters flew off.

For some battalion members, it will be their fourth deployment overseas.
