Sue Snyder to host campus sex assault summit at EMU
Michigan’s third “Inform. Empower. Prevent. Let’s End Campus Sexual Assault” summit will be held Sept. 25 at Eastern Michigan University, first lady Sue Snyder announced Wednesday.
“I am very excited to host the third ‘Inform. Empower. Prevent’ summit at Eastern Michigan University this fall,” Snyder said. “Since launching this initiative three years ago, we have made tremendous progress in raising awareness for this topic, but there is still more work to be done.”
“We must now go beyond raising awareness and provide campus assault survivors with the resources they need to heal. We also must continue our work to prevent assaults from happening in the first place, which will continue to be highlighted at this year’s summit.
"I am confident that we will continue to be a national leader in finding new, innovative solutions to make our students’ homes away from home safer,” Snyder said.
The day-long summit will build on two previous summits, with the aim of making Michigan a model in the fight against sexual assault on college campuses.
