Ann Arbor police are investigating a crash Tuesday in which a motorist was killed after striking a home.

The driver had been attempting to turn onto Wayne Street from Washtenaw Avenue about 1 p.m. when he lost control of his Ford Focus, police Sgt. Jeff Tabeling said. The car then hit an empty residence near the corner and was showered in debris, Tabeling said.

The man behind the wheel was pronounced dead at the scene. His name, age and hometown have not been released pending notification of relatives.

Witnesses reported that the motorist appeared to have been driving recklessly just before the crash, “but we won’t know if it was a medical issue or something else until we get a toxicology report,” Tabeling said.
