Suspect in 2 slayings across 2 Mich. counties arrested
Florence Township — A 32-year-old man is in police custody in Indiana following two slayings across two southwestern Michigan counties.
Kalamazoo police say the man was arrested Friday in South Bend, Indiana.
St. Joseph County Undersheriff Mark Lillywhite tells WXMI-TV that the suspect turned himself in to police in South Bend.
MLive.com reports that Shane Richardson was shot about 10:15 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph County’s Florence Township — north of the Indiana state line — by the suspect who forced his way into a home. The 29-year-old Richardson later died at a hospital.
Lillywhite says Richardson had been married to the suspect’s ex-wife.
A 31-year-old woman was shot to death about 45 minutes earlier as the suspect argued with another man at a Kalamazoo mobile home park in Kalamazoo County.
