The Michigan 4-H Children’s Gardens are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.

From programs like “Butterflies in the Garden” to “Seeds of Science,” students, educators, parents and others have interacted with the program over the years. This year will be filled with events, indoors and out, to celebrate the gardens. Events include plant sales on May 18-19 and by the student horticulture association on April 21-22. Other programs include Superhero Day, Bug Day and Water Day.

On Monday, pupils from Schwarz Creek elementary schools visited the indoor 4H Horticulture Butterfly House and got to watch and touch butterflies and let the creatures spread their wings.

The Gardens consist of three educational gardens — the outdoor Michigan 4-H Childrens Garden, the Indoor 4-H Childrens Garden, and the Pete and Sally Smith Schoolyard Demonstration Garden. The gardensare located at the corner of Bogue Street and Service Road at Michigan State University.
