Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Metro Detroit's weather forecast for Wednesday and the next few days after is looking rather soggy.

It will also be breezy Wednesday afternoon with wind speeds of up to 35 mph.

We're going to get some showers tonight and early tomorrow morning," said Trent Frey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in White Lake Township. "We're not expecting a lot of accumulation overnight."

A slight chance of thunderstorms continues into early Thursday and
then again Friday through Saturday night. Thursday's rain could bring as much as half of an inch of precipitation.

Frey said a warm front pushing through the region is causing the rain. Where the front lies is where the precipitation will set up, he said.

On Friday, a late winter storm system will move through the area, the weather service said.

"It looks like it will largely stay north of Detroit for Friday," he said. "But the best chance for rain is going to be on Saturday."

He also said a wedge of cold air pushed by the front could cause some snow.

"We're watching it closely but it looks like Detroit might be far enough south that it won't be a concern."

In addition, temperatures are expected to reach normal levels for this time of year, the weather service predicts. The average monthly high temperature for Detroit in April is about 59 degrees and the low is about 40 degrees.
