The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office dive team is working to recover the body of a man who jumped into Argo Pond in Ann Arbor from a bridge and never resurfaced.

The 35-year-old man went missing about 6:20 a.m., said Derrick Jackson, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

The man, who was accompanied by a friend to Argo Nature Area, jumped into the water from a train overpass, Jackson said. He briefly resurfaced, but then wasn't seen again.

Divers have been searching all morning. Jackson said it's not uncommon that people jump into the water from that overpass.

"That's a place people jump off from time to time," Jackson said. "Just about every year, we have something like this happen."

Police do not believe the man was trying to kill himself.
