Police in St. Clair County are asking the public for help in finding a group of bottle deposit defrauders.

Officials said Wednesday several suspects are working together to redeem fake bottle return deposit slips.

St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said detectives are looking for four men who have been spotted on at least three occasions in May redeeming the slips for more than $800 at a Walmart in Fort Gratiot, which is about 66 miles northeast of Detroit and a few miles north of Port Huron. A similar incident at the store was reported in March.

Donnellon said the suspects used slips printed on paper "very similar to the paper used in the bottle return machines" at the store.

Police released images of the suspects captured by the store's video surveillance system.

Donnellon said the suspects were also seen leaving the store in a small black crossover-type vehicle.

The sheriff said it's possible the suspects also redeemed fraudulent slips at a Walmart in Chesterfield Township in Macomb County.

Anyone with information about the suspects should call Det. Eric Stevens at (810) 987-1726.
