Prosecutor: Jackson officers justified in shooting
Jackson – A prosecutor has determined that police in southern Michigan were justified in the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man who had shot and wounded another officer.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports Friday that Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka will not charge the Jackson officers in connection with Christopher Hall’s death.
Jarzynka said Officer Tom Tinklepaugh was shot in the leg on April 1 as he responded to a report of a domestic assault. Two other officers soon arrived. Jarzynka said Hall fired 15 shots.
The officers returned fire, striking Hall multiple times. Hall died at the scene.
Floyd Hall said after the shooting that his son had some mental health concerns and wasn’t on medication.
