Police in Monroe County don't want to wait until the cows come home for someone to claim some wayward cattle.
Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said Thursday two head of cattle were found July 8 running loose near Colf and Sumpter roads in Exeter Township, about 45 miles southwest of Detroit.
The Hereford bull and the Jersey steer were captured and taken to a barn for safe keeping, the sheriff said.
Malone said the cattle's owner or anyone who knows the cattle's owner should call the county's Animal Control Department at (734) 240-3125.
The owner has until Aug. 10 to claim the animals, officials said.
