The franchise owner of a dog day care lost his job Tuesday after a video of him appear to be kicking a dog at Camp Bow Wow spread on Facebook.

A woman who leaves her dog Newton at Camp Bow Wow in Kentwood, a Grand Rapids suburb, wrote on her Facebook page that she happened to open the day-care's live feed Monday when she saw "the owner kicking" Newton.

Kara Nichole said she saw the incident 30 seconds after opening the day care's webcam and caught five seconds of footage.

"To say I’m disgusted is an understatement," she said. "For anyone who brings their dog to this location, this guy you see kicking newton is the owner. I’m not a certified trainer, like he claims he is, but kicking a dog to move doesn’t seem like the appropriate route."

The video shows nearly 20 dogs as a man in a red shirt opens a door to another room. As the dog hesitates to leave, the man is shown lifting his leg and appearing to kick the dog into the room.

After the video reached nearly a half-million views Tuesday, the corporate team at Camp Bow Wow said the franchise owner in the video had been removed.

"Camp Bow Wow has a zero tolerance policy for the behavior that was exhibited at Camp Bow Wow Kentwood," officials said in a statement. "We are shocked and appalled. This situation is being taken very seriously and upon learning of the incident at Camp Bow Wow Kentwood, we at Camp Bow Wow’s Corporate Headquarters immediately began an investigation (and) ... is taking over operations immediately."

The corporate team did not name the franchise owner.
