Mich. parents charged in neglect death of 10-month-old

Solon Township – The parents of a 10-month-old girl who died of malnutrition and dehydration in western Michigan have been charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse.

Seth Welch and his wife, Tatiana Fusari, both 27, were charged Monday in the neglect death of their daughter, Mary, last week. The Kent County sheriff’s office says deputies found the child unresponsive and not breathing in a Solon Township home after Welch called 911.

Court records allege the Kent County couple admitted to knowing of their daughter’s skinny appearance and low weight for at least a month. Records say the parents didn’t seek medical help for religious reasons, fear of having Child Protective Services called and lack of trust in medical services.

The couple is being held without bond. Court records on Tuesday didn’t list lawyers for them.
