Nearly 3,000 people remained without power Sunday after a storm hit Metro Detroit on Saturday.

DTE Energy officials said at the height of the storm that 11,000 people were without power; that number has dwindled as crews work to restore the outages. Sunday morning, the number of outages was 6,400.

"Nearly half the people have had their power restored," said Cindy Hecht, a spokeswoman for DTE Energy. "Crews are out working around the clock to get everyone restored as soon as possible."

The Labor Day weekend has "no impact on restoration efforts," Hecht said.

She couldn't give an exact estimation of when power was expected to be restored.
