MSP: Monroe Co. man crushed by farm tractor

A Monroe County man was crushed and killed by a farm tractor Sunday, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers from the state police's Monroe Post were dispatched to the 9000 block of Finzel Road in Exeter Township at about 7 p.m. Sunday to respond to a report about a man trapped under a farm tractor, officials said.

A preliminary investigation showed the man was mowing his yard with the tractor when he made a turn that caused the machine to tip into a ditch and trap him under it, police said.

Neighbors saw the overturned tractor and rushed to help the man. The man was not breathing and had no pulse, according to officials.

Exeter Township firefighters arrived to help, but they declared the man dead.

State Police officials have identified the man as James Adam, 88.
