DTE: 13K customers without power due to high winds
More than 13,000 DTE Energy customers remain without power Saturday in Metro Detroit after high winds and storms, officials said.
DTE said roughly 62,000 of the 75,000 affected customers have power restored and expect most customers to be restored by the end of Saturday.
Gusty winds in excess of 40 mph, a line of showers and a few storms moving across southeast Michigan on Friday night knocked down numerous power lines and trees.
DTE officials encourage customers without power to report an outage or downed power line through the website or mobile app.
Severe weather often knocks down power lines and touching them can be fatal. Stay back 20 feet and always assume the line is still on.
