Check your pockets, a million dollar prize is just waiting for someone to take it home before it expires Thursday, state lottery officials say.

A $1 million Powerball prize for the Sept. 25, 2017, drawing remains unclaimed.

The winning ticket that matched five numbers — 08-10-21-23-25 — was sold at the Ionia Marathon gas station located at 121 North Dexter St. in Ionia.

The ticket's owner should call the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to schedule an appointment to collect the prize.

If the prize expires Thursday, the full amount will go to the School Aid Fund as required by state law.

"It’s not common for large prizes like this to go unclaimed. If the ticket holder does not come forward, it would only be the second major prize to go unclaimed in 2018," said Jake Harris, Michigan Lottery spokesman.

In July, a $519,456 Fast Cash Jackpot Slots jackpot went unclaimed.

The record for an unclaimed Lottery prize in Michigan is $34 million. It was set in 1998, when a winning Michigan Lotto game ticket, purchased at the Meijer located at 1350 West Lake Lansing Road in East Lansing, went unclaimed.
