St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night that killed a 65-year-old Port Huron man, officials said.

Deputies responded to a report of a crash in the 5700 block of Lapeer Road east of Abbottsford Road at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

When they arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree and was engulfed in flames, police said.

Firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze and found the victim inside the vehicle. He was the sole occupant, officials said.

Deputies determined the man was traveling east on Lapeer when his vehicle went off the roadway to the right, crossed the road and left the road again before striking the tree, they said.
