Storms blamed for knocking down tree that killed man
Dewitt Township – Authorities say storms that moved through Michigan this week likely knocked over a tree that fell onto a roadway, killing a 32-year-old motorist.
DeWitt Township police Chief Brian Russell tells the Lansing State Journal that Joseph Mull died after the vehicle he was driving was struck by the tree Monday in the Lansing-area community. The graduate of Lansing Community College’s theater program was recalled as a gifted actor and role model to younger actors.
Dennis and Patricia Rozen, who live near the tree that fell, said they called the township earlier to express concern about the tree’s condition. Patricia Rozen calls it a “preventable death.”
Township Manager Andrew Dymczyk says he wasn’t aware of any complaints the township had received about the tree. Township officials are looking into what happened.
