A motorist died Friday after being struck by another car on Interstate 275 in Plymouth Township, Michigan State Police said.

A preliminary investigation found the woman, who had been involved in a three-car crash in the southbound lanes north of Ann Arbor Road, got out of her vehicle on the shoulder about 8:45 p.m.

The victim, identified as about 30 years old and from the Carleton area, was pronounced dead, MSP said. Relatives were on the scene and have been transported to a hospital for medical attention, according to the agency.

The driver of the other car stopped and is cooperating with authorities, state police said.

Meanwhile, southbound lanes near the scene are closed and traffic is being diverted to I-96, MSP tweeted.
