Police have arrested a 19-year-old Port Huron Township man who allegedly shot his father in the face last month, officials said.

Mack Kuefler was arrested at about 5 p.m. Monday at a home in the 600 block of 11th Street in Port Huron, according to the St. Clair County Sheriffs Office. His arrest ends a nine-day search for the man.

Sheriff Tim Donnellon said Port Huron police received a tip Kuefler was at the home and responded along with deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and Port Huron Police Road Patrol.

After arriving, police were told by a woman outside of the residence that no one was inside. However, officers saw Kuefler looking out a window on the second floor of the home, Donnellon said.

Police negotiated with Kuefler for about 15 minutes, he exited the house and was arrested without incident, he said.

Kuefler was taken to the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center, police said.

Donnellon said a request to charge Kuefler will be sent to the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday.

Kuefler is accused of shooting his father in the face at their home in the 2600 block of Oak Street in Port Huron Township at about 10 a.m. Sept. 30. He then fled the scene on a bicycle.
