Two people were injured Tuesday after a semi-tractor trailer crashed into a vehicle on a Port Huron Township roadway, police said.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the intersection of Dove and Michigan roads, according to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon.

Deputies responded to reports of the crash and found a semi and a GMC Acadia were involved, he said in a statement.

Witnesses told deputies the Acadia was traveling north on Dove, ran a red light and the truck struck the SUV on its passenger side, officials said.

William Watson, 48, of Port Huron, was driving the Acadia, according to authorities. Donnie Johnson, 61, of Richmond, Virginia, was driving the truck, which is registered to Medina, Ohio-based Panther Transportation. Police said Johnson had a passenger in the truck with him, Marjorie Beechum, 57, of Dale City, Virginia.

Paramedics transported Watson and Beechum to a hospital. Police continue to investigate.
