UM-MSU rivalry week begins with vandalism of UM diag
Consider it the unofficial start of rivalry week.
Somebody spray-painted the Block M at the University of Michigan Diag over the weekend, one week before the annual UM-MSU football game.
The somebody was apparently a MSU fan because the spray-paint was green, MSU team colors, and the initials S and U were written after the M.
UM campus police said they haven't made any arrests or have any suspects in the caper.
This type of thing happens a lot during the week leading up to the UM-MSU game.
In 2015, MSU's Sparty statue was painted maize and blue, which are the team colors of UM.
The latest incident was reported at 3 a.m. Sunday, said UM campus police.
A UM fraternity reported to the Diag later Sunday to prevent a repeat of the vandalism.
The Theta XI fraternity set up a perimeter of couches around the Block M and will remain there throughout the week.
