Consumers Energy worked late Tuesday to stem a suspected gas leak at a Northville business.

Fire and utility officials were called to the building at 150 N. Center, listed as the location for the Tuscan Cafe, after reports of the leak, said Debra Dodd, a spokeswoman for Consumers.

Crews found a rupture in the parking lot outside as well as another indoors, along the customer-owned fuel line, Dodd said.

The cause was not yet known, and Consumers crews were expected to remain at the scene through early Wednesday to fix the problem, she said.

The restaurant did not appear to be open at the time, and no evacuations were necessary, Dodd said.

Tuscan Cafe managers did not respond to a request for comment late Tuesday.
