Traverse City GOP office evacuated for bomb threat, official says
A Traverse City-area GOP office was closed temporarily Wednesday after a reported bomb threat, according to the Michigan Republican Party.
Police were called to the scene about 3 p.m. after a person ran into the office, threatened to blow it up, then fled the scene. Staff were allowed to return to the building shortly after 4:30 p.m., said Sarah Anderson, a spokeswoman for the Michigan Republican Party.
Grand Traverse Sheriff Department officials weren't immediately available for comment.
The threat comes days after the party headquarters in Lansing were tagged with graffiti,
The party is reviewing its safety protocols statewide, Anderson said, and "encouraging all of our staff, volunteers, and supporters to exercise caution."
