Michigan Dream Home: $8.9M deer ranch in Gladwin
A whitetail deer hunting preserve with a 4,500 square-foot log cabin and two private lakes in Gladwin is up for sale.
The price: $8.9 million.
Known as the Double Eagle Ranch, the property covers 2,280 acres and located on Sargent Road near where Maple Valley and Round Lake roads meet in Gladwin. Gladwin is about 160 miles northwest of Detroit.
"It's one of the largest privately-owned parcels in the state of Michigan," said Kyle O'Grady, the Realtor who listed the property. "It's also a Class III-registered deer ranch. It really stands in a league of its own."
The family that owns the ranch bought it in 1990 and put it on the market a few months ago, he said.
A 10-foot-tall fence surrounds the property, which contains a trophy-tier deer herd. There are more than 12 deer blinds on the grounds. It also has has about 50 miles of two-track roads.
"It's very unique and there are multiple homes and multiple pole barns on the property," O'Grady said.
The ranch's log cabin, built in 2007, has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a two-car garage. It also has a whole-house generator for back-up power supply.
There are two, 20-acre lakes on the spread, one to the west of the log home and one to the south.
A 1,200 square-foot guest house sits on the southern edge of the south lake. The original home on the property, it has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
In addition, a two-story club house called the Antler’s Inn sits down the road from the lake house. The house has a full kitchen, pool table, shuffle board table and a fireplace. The inn's second-floor has a full bathroom, a wood-burning stove and can sleep 14 comfortably.
Furthermore, the ranch has a small house at its front gate for ranch hands. That 900-square-foot house has three bedrooms and one bathroom.
