Monroe Township — The body of a 66-year-old Monroe man was recovered Sunday from the River Raisin, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities said deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of South Custer near the river after a group of kayakers discovered a body on its banks.

Investigators identified the body as David Michael Tedora, 66, of Monroe. Police said Tedora was an avid fisherman and was known to have fished in the area where his body was found.

Officials said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

Deputies transported Tedora's body to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death.
