Port Huron Township — St. Clair County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death Sunday of a 53-year-old man who crashed his motorcycle into a parked car, officials said.

Deputies were called at about 8:30 p.m. to the 2700 block of Beach near Interstate 94 and Lapeer Road in Port Huron Township, according to authorities. Port Huron Township is about 60 miles northeast of Detroit and about five miles west of Port Huron.

A preliminary investigation shows the rider, a Port Huron Township man, was traveling north on Beach when it left the roadway, ran along the shoulder and ditch line before striking a parked vehicle, police said.

Officials said it is not known why the motorcycle left the road.
