Officials ID victims in small plane crash near Lansing airport

Officials on Friday identified the six victims who were in a single-engine plane crash Thursday near the Capital Region International Airport in the Lansing-area.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office released the names of the three who were killed as Timothy Joe Clark, 67, of Franklin, Indiana, John Thomas Lowe, 51, of Greenwood, Indiana, and Neil Alan Sego, 46, of Trafalgar, Indiana. 

The scene just west of Capital Region International Airport where a small plane crashed Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019. Three are dead, three were taken to Sparrow hospital in Lansing with critical injuries.

The three who were injured in the crash have been identified as Zechariah Eugene Bennett, 27, of Plainfield, Indiana, Joel Stewart Beavins, 48 of Franklin, Indiana, and Aaron Levi Blackford, 42, of Frankton, Indiana. All three are listed in critical condition at Sparrow Hospital, officials said.

They also said the crash investigation has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

The crash happened at about 9 a.m. Thursday near the airport, which is located in DeWitt Township. The plane, a six-passenger TBM 700, was headed to the airport from Indianapolis.

Officials said the plane was approaching the airport to land when it crashed.
