A man and woman are dead after a two-car crash Tuesday night in St. Clair County, officials said Wednesday.

St. Clair County sheriff's deputies were called at about 6:45 p.m. to Bryce at Breen roads in Emmett Township, according to authorities.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a woman, identified as Dawn Meyer, 50, of Lynn Township, was driving a 2001 Dodge Intrepid north on Breen when she apparently ignored a stop sign at Bryce. Meyer's 16-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle with her.

At the same time, John Barron, 52, of Emmett Township was driving west on Bryce in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup. His truck struck Meyer's vehicle on the passenger side, officials said.

Medics arrived and pronounced Barron dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Meyer and her daughter were taken to a hospital, officials said. Doctors pronounced Meyer dead and her daughter was transferred to a children's hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Deputies continue to investigate.
