Southfield — Police are attempting to identify a woman who was killed by a car as she attempted to cross Telegraph near 10 Mile on Sunday night.

The victim is described as African-American believed to be in her late teens. She was wearing a coral-colored sweater, jeans and brown sandals.

Police said the victim had been walking along westbound 10 Mile when she attempted to cross Telegraph. She died at the scene after she was struck by a car carrying four people.

The driver, described as a 20-year-old woman from Canton Township, stopped at the scene of the accident. She was interviewed, along with the three passengers in her car.

Based on witness statements and a preliminary investigation, it appears the vehicle had the right of way and was proceeding through the intersection on a green traffic signal.
