Oakland County doctor in drug case loses license
An Oakland County physician convicted of several felonies including health care fraud, has been stripped of his medical license.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs suspended the license of Dr. Ruben Taguiam Benito on Sept. 10.
Benito, who practiced in Madison Heights, was sentenced June 30 in U.S. District Court to 40 months in prison for health care fraud conspiracy and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, according to a LARA press release issued Friday.
Additionally on July 2, he was sentenced for felony convictions of controlled substance-delivery/manufacture (schedules 1, 2 and 3 except marijuana) and controlled substance-delivery/manufacture (schedule 5) in Macomb County Circuit Court.
