Madison Heights students help build Habitat home
Madison Heights – — Female students from two local high schools helped build a home for a woman with disabilities and her husband Tuesday through Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County's Women Build program.
The students' work at the site on East Kalama is part of a trade-focused curriculum at Madison and Madison Preparatory high schools in Madison Heights. The home is being built for Cindy Etheridge, who was born with disabilities and plans to move in with her husband, Dennis.
Women Build is a national program for women who want to learn construction skills while building homes and communities, according to Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat's Oakland County chapter has built and renovated homes for more than 174 families since 1996, with 16 others taking place this year.
